Atlanta Apostol

AGE - 17

WT CLASS - normally wrestle in 119 or 125, but I've been in 112 and wrestled people from 135. (and even pinned someone from 171 once!)

HOME TOWN.- Pleasant Valley, NY

WHY DID YOU START WRESTLING- I really good at martial arts like Tae Kwon Do or Karate, but I'd always get my but lovingly whipped by my buds when we sparred, because they could wrestle. I wanted to change that...and I fell in love with the sport.

WHAT HAS THE SPORT OF WRESTLING DONE FOR YOU.- Taught me how easy it is to take less than your best, taught me to never ever give in...To go all 6minutes in life.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOU BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT TO DATE?- First female varsity wrestler at my school.

WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR WRESTLING?- Pinning. Every pin I get makes all the trips for XRays or hours in the Trainer's room icing and doing rehab worth it.

DO YOU HAVE A HERO AND WHY?- Not really. I really respect my team captain this year. He's 119 to 125, has to suck weight rather hard each year, and is one of the most amazing wrestlers I've ever had the honor to wrestle, he's a fun guy.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY TO THE YOUNGER GIRLS COMING UP?- Do it! It's the best sport in the world. IT'll give you a whole new understanding of yourself and your body. It won't be easy, but the best stuff never ever is.

WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO IMPROVE THE SPORT OF WOMENS WRESTLING?-Make women's leagues available! The weight class rules, and competition would be much better for women, and it would encourage lots of great wrestler's to join the sport.

WHAT CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL DO YOU WRESTLE FOR?-The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT (A boarding school)

LIST SOME OF YOUR BIGGER TOURNAMENT'S AND WHAT PLACE YOU PLACED- Cantebury Invitational. My first varsity match, had my butt handed to me. I did really well in one of my matches, but the kid pulled a nasty forearm across my throat, and I almost passed out, the ref missed it. So I got knocked from the match.
3rd at the Hotchkiss JV Invite.
